The President Welcomes Relatives of Shot National Guard Members to the White House

President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Community Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to support public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to assist people.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the government to halt refugee claims and cease issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to visit the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
