Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
