Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
