Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
