Lawmakers from the Democratic party voiced outrage after Donald Trump alleged a contingent of Democratic congress members of being "turncoats" and declared they should be taken into custody and punished "with execution" following their publication of a contentious video.

The Message That Provoked the Controversy

The video footage, published on Tuesday, showcases six Democratic lawmakers who previously worked in armed forces or security roles.

"Similar to us, you all took an vow to protect and uphold this national charter," the officials stated in the short video. "Currently, the dangers to our governing document don't only come from foreign nations, but from within our own country. Our regulations are explicit, you can refuse illegal orders, you can refuse improper directives, you should decline illegal orders. No one has to follow directives that violate the law or our founding principles."

The Former President's Incensed Reaction

The video message appeared to prompt a furious response from the previous commander-in-chief.

On the following morning, Trump posted on his social media platform: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these turncoats to our United States should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

Democratic Representatives Answer

Following Trump's comments on that day, House Democratic leader released a unified statement condemning the comments.

"Partisan aggression has no position in the United States," they declared. "Representatives who were featured in the video all served our country with tremendous loyalty and excellence. We strongly condemn Donald Trump's disgusting and harmful calls for execution against elected officials, and call on GOP representatives to vigorously do the same."

The party representatives also said that they had been in contact with law enforcement "to make certain the protection of these officials and their families."

"Donald Trump must immediately take down these unhinged online messages and withdraw his aggressive rhetoric before he gets someone killed," the announcement stated.

Lawmakers' Strong Reaction

The lawmakers who were featured in the video also published a statement.

"We serve as former service members and national security professionals who care for this nation and took an pledge to protect and uphold the constitution of the United States," they stated. "This commitment lasts a lifetime, and we aim to maintain it. No warning, pressure, or call for violence will prevent us from that sacred duty."

"The most revealing aspect is that the ex-president considers it subject to penalty by execution for us to restate the legal requirements," they stated. "Military personnel should understand that we have their support as they fulfill their vow to the founding principles and duty to follow only legal commands. It is not only the correct thing to do, but also our obligation."

The Democratic Senate minority leader also censured Trump's comments and posted on digital platforms: "It's important to understand: the former president is demanding the capital punishment of elected officials."

He added: "This represents an outright THREAT. Every Senator, every Representative, every American – irrespective of political affiliation – should condemn this right away and unconditionally."

The GOP leader justified Trump's allegation that the Democrats had been involved in "sedition", characterizing the video as "wildly inappropriate", adding: "This constitutes very dangerous, you have prominent officials of Congress telling troops to ignore directives, I think that's historic in the nation's past."

The Conservative representative also allegedly stated to the press that in what he read of Trump's posts, Trump was "describing the crime of sedition" but that "legal experts have to analyze the terminology and determine all that."

Administration Reaction
